Project Manager - Mawley Holiday Park Upgrade
1. Overview
Masterton District Council (MDC) has allocated a sum of $1.2 million over
two financial years to either refurbish or replace facilities within Mawley
Holiday Park and requires the services of a project manager with a broad
range of skills and experience to manage this project from concept through
to completion.
With the expected influx of visitors for the 2011 Rugby World Cup the
refurbishment and/or replacement programme must be complete by the end of
August 2011 to accommodate some of these visitors. To this end MDC is
seeking to engage a person who excels when working to tight timeframes to
manage this project.
2. Person Specification
To be appointed to the role of Project Manager – Mawley Holiday Park
Upgrade, you will be either a trade qualified carpenter/builder, specialist
project manager or a combination of these, have considerable experience in
the construction and maintenance of buildings and facilities, and have a
record of industry achievement to support the above.
Please note: This position is not suitable for someone seeking to gain
project management skills and experience. Council requires the Project
Manager – Mawley Holiday Park Upgrade, to be a self-starter and to “hit the
ground running”. Given the tight timeframes and complexity of the position
only candidates with the requisite skills and experience should consider
applying for this role.

4. Closing Date for Applications
Written applications, directed to the Special Projects Manager, Masterton
District Council, PO Box 444, Masterton, close at 4:00pm, on Friday 10
September 2010.
It is anticipated that shortlisted candidates will be interviewed during
the week beginning 13 September 2010.
5. Type and Term of Contract
It is anticipated that the Project Manager – Mawley Holiday Park will be
employed on an hourly rate, term contract basis. However, the terms and
conditions will be discussed with shortlisted candidates and negotiated with
the preferred candidate.
The duration of this contract will be initially one year, however
depending on progress of works and budget this may be shortened or increased
at the discretion of the Masterton District Council.
6. No Guarantee of Minimum Hours
Candidates should note that Masterton District Council does not guarantee
that the Project Manager – Mawley Holiday Park will be a fulltime position.
It is anticipated that the project development phase will be fulltime,
however the input required from the project manager will vary through the
other phases of the project life-cycle to reflect the changing demands of
the upgrade.
