We’re looking for
outstanding young people who have achieved at a high level.
Nominations are now open
for the annual Masterton District Council Young Achiever
Awards.
In past years achievers
have included the supreme winner of young Fashion Designer of
the Year, a national umpire in table tennis, a national surf
lifesaving champion, a motocross champ, top dancers and a New
Zealand representative in water polo.
“The number and quality
of nominations we receive every year for these awards never
ceases to amaze me,” says Mayor Garry Daniell.
“The talent and
commitment in our community is really very impressive. Most of
the recipients have not only achieved at a high level themselves
but also provide leadership to assist others to do well,” Mr
Daniell said.
“The selection panels
always have a hard task deciding who the final recipients will
be.”
To be considered for an
award, a person must be nominated by any two officers of any
organisation, association, society or club, by a School’s Board
of Trustees, or by two members of the public who are residents
of Masterton.
Nominations close
November 12.
Nomination forms can be picked up from the Masterton District
Council offices, 64 Chapel Street, or downloaded from the
Council’s website:
www.mstn.govt.nz.
