Latest News Portfolios for Councillors In a first for the Council, areas of responsibility have been given to specific members of the Community Development Task Group.  Portfolios have been handed out in a bid to improve linkages with community groups, residents and the Council.  Chairman Jeff Workman said communication was the key to workable relationships outside of the Council.  Now people would know who to contact and the task group members would have specific areas to focus on.  The streamlining of portfolios was a new approach, one Mr Workman hoped would show the community “we mean business when we say we want to work collaboratively with the community to meet its needs”.  Portfolio holders and their roles are:  Jeff  Workman   -     Health and Disability, Community Safety, Sport and Recreation   Edwin Perry – Eastside   Jonathan Hooker – Cultural Community   Brent Goodwin – Arts and Culture   Lyn Patterson – Elderly and Housing   Chris Peterson – Youth and Education 12 February 2009
