Castlepoint Landscaping Makeover in April 2009
The physical works contract for the
upgrade and landscaping of Jetty Road, at Castlepoint, is
scheduled to begin mid-April.
The $255,000 job will take about eight
weeks to complete and will be carried out by Levin Bobcats Ltd,
says Masterton District Council Parks Manager Grant Hathaway.
The area being made over with new carparks
and landscaping is between the fire station and Guthrie
Crescent, on the sea-side of the road only. New kerbing and
improved drainage is also part of the job.
Mr Hathaway said the project had been
widely discussed with residents and ratepayers, who’d taken a
keen interest in the plans and “had a lot of input into the
final design”.
The plan was approved at a public meeting
in Castlepoint at the end of last year.
Mr Hathaway said only short sections of the road would be
worked on at any one time “to minimise disruption to residents
and visitors”. Work will only take place during the week, he
added. Residents had been notified by the contractors that work
was planned for April and had been advised to contact the
Council if they had any questions or concerns.
