Maintenance Contracts
Masterton District Council roading
and streetlighting contracts for the period of July 1st
2009 to 2012 were finalised at the Council meeting held on
Wednesday 25th March 2009.
Tenders for both contracts closed
on March 9th, after which the Council conducted
detailed analysis of all three roading and streetlighting
submissions received.
The Mayor, Garry Daniell advises
that the analysis involved thorough investigations into each of
the contract proposals and all were put through a rigorous
evaluation process. “Qualifications, performance and experience
were all taken into consideration but the final decision making
process was largely determined by price,” says Garry Daniell.
“We want to ensure that we are adequately managing the rating
impact of Council maintenance costs.”
The roading maintenance contract
was won by Fulton Hogan who offered a sum of
$9,678,173.10 over the three year period of the contract.
Linetech Electrical Services won the streetlighting contract
$325,525.15, also over a three year period. The roading
contract was formerly held by Oldfield Asphalts who had held the
contract for the last five years. In the case of the
Streelighting Contract, the incumbent contractor would retain
the work.
The new roading
contract, which takes into consideration routine maintenance
duties as well as mechanical street sweeping and road marking,
was accepted for a term of three years. This will be followed
potentially by two single-year contract renewal periods. The
Streetlight Maintenance Contract was also based on the same
terms.
