Latest News Wairarapa Road Safety Council - Cycling Representative Nominations The Wairarapa Road Safety Council (WRSC) is seeking nominations from the community for a cycling representative to sit on the WRSC. The WRSC promotes road safety in the Wairarapa through coordination, advocacy and education with a vision of “Safer Wairarapa Roads”. The WRSC currently comprises representation from the following organisations: - Masterton District Council - Carterton District Council - South Wairarapa District Council - NZ Police - ACC - NZ Fire Service - Plunket - NZ Automobile Association - Wairarapa Ambulance Service - Wairarapa Public Health - Road Transport Association - IDEA Services - Wairarapa Organisation for Older Persons The WRSC recognises the need to extend the current representation on the Committee to ensure that cyclists, as a road user group, are fairly represented. Nominations are therefore sought for persons with an interest in road safety and suitable knowledge and experience of cyclist issues in the Wairarapa region. The WRSC cyclist representative will act as an advocate for cyclists of all ages and groups (i.e. commuter, sport, recreational etc) and be prepared to have input into and provide feedback on planning and cyclist related road safety and sustainable transport activities and issues. The appointed representative must be able to attend regularly bi-monthly meetings (generally held on the 2nd Thursday of the month in Masterton at 2pm) and the Annual General Meeting. This is a voluntary, un-paid position. The attached nomination form should be completed and returned to The Chairperson, Wairarapa Road Safety Council, P O Box 444, Masterton or emailed to: ruth.locker@wairsc.org.nz Nominations close: 5pm, Friday 29th May 2009. The WRSC Executive Committee will consider all nominated candidates. Candidates may be short-listed for interview with the WRSC Executive Committee submitting their final recommended candidates to the full WRSC Committee at the meeting to be held on 11th June 2009.
