Still Looking for Outstanding Volunteers and Young Achievers
Masterton District
Council is still on the look-out for our community’s unsung
heroes and young achievers – the people who make a real
difference to our place and our people.
You have until October
27, longer than previously advertised, to nominate people for
these awards.
“There are many people
in this community who volunteer their time and skills to the
community with no expectations in return, says Masterton Mayor
Garry Daniell.
“Equally there are a
number of high achievers under the age of 25 who we would like
to formally acknowledge for their excellent results, be they in
competition or music or academics or community service.
In past years Civic Awards have been granted
for such work as co-ordinating flower arrangements at the
hospital, services to music, services to the Foodbank, work on
Forest and Bird projects, 50 years service to Wairarapa hockey
and work with Riding for the Disabled and services to athletics
and to pony club.
Young Achiever Awards have gone to
competitive equestrians, other national representative
sportspeople in fields like swimming and hockey, fashion
designers and those who’ve shown national academic excellence.
To be considered for an
award, a person must be nominated by any two officers of any
organisation, association, society or club, or by two members of
the public who are residents of Masterton District.
Nominations now close on
Tuesday October 27.
Nomination forms for both awards can be picked up from the
Masterton District Council offices, 64 Chapel Street, the
library or downloaded from the Council’s website:
www.mstn.govt.nz.
