08/09 Annual Report to be Adopted October 28
Masterton District Council will adopt its
Annual Report for the year ended June 2009 tomorrow (Wednesday
October 28).
Masterton Mayor Garry Daniell said the
highlight of the year was gaining a Resource Consent to upgrade
the Homebush Sewerage treatment plant.
“It was ‘a huge achievement for the
Council’ and one which was the culmination of many years work.
The process of dealing with appeals is still to be worked
through but gaining the consent has meant the Council can
confidently plan in its LTCCP for this major project,” Mr
Daniell said.
The other milestone achievement for
Masterton District Council was the successful negotiation of a
six days a week Masterton – Auckland Air New Zealand flight
service run by Eagle Air.
“We got the go-ahead in September 2008 and
by March 2009 the service was ‘up in the air above Masterton’.
Council constructed a new terminal building and extended a
taxiway. The service has been an overwhelming success with very
high levels of passenger occupancy,” Mr Daniell said.
He acknowledged support of Trust House,
Wairarapa Building Society and Carterton District Council.
Mr Daniell also said the 2008/09 Annual
Report received an unqualified audit report and that the report
showed the Council was in a ‘good financial position’.
