Outdoor Fire Ban Extended through August
Masterton District Council has extended its ban on outdoor
fires and incinerators in the urban area until 31st August.
The decision to continue with the restrictions which have
been in place since 1st May is due to the unusually cold winter.
“We believe there is more cold weather to come and we want to
avoid breaching the minimum standards for air quality in
Masterton,” explained Sue Southey, Manager Planning & Regulatory
“Extending the ban for a further month should help to keep
the air in our town clean and pollution-free and our whole
community will benefit as a result. We are asking residents to
be vigilant and to get in touch if they become aware of any
outdoor fires in Masterton during August.”
