Genesis Energy Castle Hill Wind Farm

Genesis Energy has lodged resource consent application to establish and operate the Castle Hill Wind Farm on privately owned rural land in the southern part of this district and in the northern part of the Masterton District. The site covers approximately 30,000 ha of predominantly pastureland, about 20 km east of Eketahuna and Pahiatua. When finally constructed, the wind farm site of up to 286 turbines will cover approximately 226 ha.

A copy of the application can be viewed at any of the Council's service centres. A summary of the application can be downloaded below, and a DVD of the full application are also available on request.

As well as seeking a resource consent from Masterton, consents are being sought from Horizons and Greater Wellington Regional Councils and Tararua District Council. The four councils are working together on this project and propose to jointly hear the applications at a later date.

The application is now open for submissions until 26 September 2011. Submission forms are available in the service centres or can be downloaded below. All submissions should be sent to the Horizons office in Palmerston, where the submissions are being collated.
