Civil Defence Emergency Management

The Civil Defence Emergency Management department of the Council exists to provide key activities:

  • To maintain an organisation within the District that is in a state of readiness to respond in the event of a civil defence emergency in the District.

  • To improve public awareness of natural and technological threats and provide the Masterton District with the survival and coping skills to deal with these threats.

To assist the Council to fulfil the above tasks the Council employs an Emergency Management Officer. The office is located at the Emergency Operations Centre, on the ground floor at the northern end of the Masterton Town Hall.

Your Emergency Management officer is available to assist you with emergency preparedness.

Other duties performed by the Emergency Management Officer :-

  • To maintain and update the Council's Standard Operating Procedures

  • To maintain an efficient Emergency Operations Centre

  • Maintain a continued liaison with organisations, either professional or voluntary, which are likely to be involved with a civil defence emergency.
