Pensioner Housing

The Masterton District Council acknowledges its commitment to the older citizens in the community, especially where comfortable, safe housing is concerned. There are a number of facilities available:

 

Bodmin Flats - Chapel Street

Constructed in 1965, these eight units, are all bedsitters located close to the Kuripuni Shopping Centre. They offer a 24-hour emergency line and are all fitted with smoke alarms.

 

Truro Flats - Chapel Street

Constructed in 1964, these are four one bedroom units, also in close proximity to Kuripuni shops. A 24-hour emergency line is available, all units have smoke alarms.

 

 

Panama Pensioner Complex

There are 44 units of varying sizes. 

Construction first began in 1968 with 10 units, with the last four built in 1980. The homestead on the site provides a community room available to all residents for socialising. Occasional outside entertainment is provided. A community laundry and a community vegetable garden are popular. Smoke alarms are fitted throughout the complex and there is a 24-hour emergency line available. A custodian lives on site.

 

Laurent Place

18 units erected in 1964, 6 one bedroom dwellings, 8 bedsitters, 4 one bedroom units.

Close to the Kuripuni Shopping Centre. A 24-hour emergency line is available, all units have smoke alarms.
