Welcoming Week
Welcoming Week is a national celebration lead by Immigration New Zealand. It is an opportunity to celebrate the values that unite us as people who call Masterton home.
This year we are celebrating with two events:
The Human Library
Listen to the unique life experiences from one of our community members as they talk with an interviewer. Happening at Masterton District Library, Thursday 12 September 5-6:30pm.
Masterton Cultural Festival
Returning for its second successful year the festival will be held in the Green Space at Queen Elizabeth Park (beside Kids own Playground on Saturday 7 September, 10.30am – 2.00pm.
There will be stalls, music, food and performances from loads of different cultural groups in Masterton. It's completely free and family friendly so put it in your diary. If you would like to be be a stall holder or perform at the festival see more details below.
Get Involved
There are a few ways you can be involved, and we would love to have you!
Cultural Performances
We will have a stage set up for cultural performances throughout the day. If you and your group would like a space on the stage, please get in touch. Groups can perform for up to 20 minutes each. Performing groups will receive a small koha as a thank you for their time.
Food stalls
We are inviting any cultural groups to sell their local cuisine and show Masterton what they love to eat. We have a set number of spaces for groups who would like to set up a stall and sell their food as a fundraiser. First in first served for the spaces and meal choices.
What will it cost for me to be involved and what do I need to bring?
Nothing! It is free to have your cultural group perform or to have a food stall. If you are having a food stall, you will need to bring your own table/gazebo etc.
