Annual Plan finalised – with average rate increase of 4.2 percent
Masterton District Council has approved its Annual Plan for 2026/27, and with it an average rates increase of 4.2 percent.
The actual rates increase for properties will vary at the individual property level.
The overall average urban increase is 4.5 percent and overall average rural increase is 3.3 percent.
The average 4.2 percent rates increase represents a significant reduction in both the forecast 6.5 percent in the 2024-34 Long-Term Plan, and the 5.2 percent consulted on earlier this year.
Mayor Bex Johnson said Council staff and elected members had worked hard to keep the rates increase down.
“We are very aware of the financial pressures many in our community are facing,” she said. “Considerable effort was taken to reduce the rate increase, while ensuring we are continuing to deliver for our community.”
The Council has one month to publish the Annual Plan on its website.
