Castlepoint Hotel - Stay lifted
In December, the proprietors of the Castlepoint Hotel appealed a decision by the Masterton District Licensing Committee to decline renewal of their license.
This appeal will be heard on 25 February.
The applicants applied for a Stay, to allow them to continue operating until the appeal was heard, and this was granted by the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority on 17 December 2025, with strict operating conditions.
The Council, as Licensing Inspector, subsequently applied to have this Stay lifted because of evidence relating to the operation of the Hotel not meeting the required conditions.
This application was heard by the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority on 28 January and the Stay was lifted.
Accordingly, the Authority has directed the Hotel to cease alcohol sales immediately.
Copies of the Stay and the subsequent decision are available on the Masterton District Council website.
