The District Plan
Te Mahere ā-Rohe
The Wairarapa Combined District Plan is the main document that sets the framework for managing land use and development in our district.
It contains objectives, policies and rules to address resource management issues such as the effects of land use and subdivision, noise and traffic.
These rules cover things like residential development, subdivision of land, the height and location of buildings, commercial and industrial developments, heritage and noise.
If the only District Plan rules your home build or extension infringes are boundary rules, you may be able to apply for a boundary activity instead of a resource consent.
Relocating a Building
Relocating a building requires a resource consent for a controlled activity and a building consent for any new foundations or alterations.
Heritage Buildings and Character Areas
The Wairarapa Combined District Plan lists a number of properties and buildings as being heritage items.
Publicly Notified Plan Changes
See any proposed changes to the District Plan that have been publicly notified.
The plan defines different zones for certain activities. You need to make sure you can do your planned activity in your zone.
