Vandalism leads to temporary closure of bathrooms at Henley Lake

Recent bouts of vandalism have led to the closure of the men’s toilet cubicles at the toilets at Henley Lake.

This closure is only affecting the two toilet cubicles in the men’s bathrooms. The showers, urinal and changing area remain accessible, and the 24/7 accessible bathroom can be used as an alternative.

Acting GM Infrastructure Ian Osland said that the closure is in the interest of safety for users of the facility, and that Council will be exploring solutions to rectify the situation.

“Ensuring public safety is paramount for Masterton District Council. Whilst we have made efforts to repair deliberate damage to the toilet cubicles, the repeat persistence means we now need to explore new options to ensure the bathrooms remain usable and safe,” he said.

Council have begun exploring options to upgrade the bathrooms to stop the vandalism and anticipate being able to update the community on the plans in the coming weeks.

“We know these facilities are used regularly by our community, and we will endeavour to ensure they are reopened as soon as possible. We will update our community as soon as we know more,” concludes Osland.
