There is a Heavy Rain Warning in place for the Tararua Ranges. This is effective from 11am Wednesday 4th June to 11pm Wednesday 4th June 2025. Expect 120 to 150 mm of rain. Peak intensities of 25 to 35 mm per hour and thunderstorms possible. Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible.
There is a Strong Wind Warning in place for the Wairarapa. This is effective from 1am Thursday 5th June to 9am Thursday 5th June 2025. Severe gale northwesterlies gusting 120km/h in exposed places. Note, strong winds are expected from Wednesday afternoon, but the risk of severe gales is from early Thursday.
Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
