Heavy Rain & Strong Wind Warnings | Wairarapa & Tararua Range

There is a Heavy Rain Warning in place for the Tararua Ranges. This is effective from 11pm Wednesday 17th September to 10am Thursday 18th September 2025. Expect 80 to 120mm of rain. Peak rates of 10 to 20 mm/h expected Thursday morning. Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible.

There is a Strong Wind Warning in place for the Wairarapa. This is effective from 2pm Wednesday 17th September to 12pm Thursday 18th September 2025. Severe gale northwesterlies gusting 120km/h in exposed places.

Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
