Bleeding of water mains to remove air

Masterton District Council contractors are running water through fire hydrants in the Solway area of Masterton this afternoon and evening (7 October 2025) to remove air from the water main.
A valve in the mains was replaced last night, but air in the system has led to aerated water in some areas, which can give the water a milky appearance.
“Bleeding” the system is expected to resolve the issue today.
