There is a Heavy Rain Warning in place for the Tararua Ranges. This is effective from 10am Thursday 23rd October to 8pm Thursday 23rd October 2025. Expect 70 to 100 mm of rain. Peak rates of 15 to 25 mm/h expected Thursday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms possible.
Streams and rivers may rise rapidly. Surface flooding, slips, and difficult driving conditions possible.
There is a Strong Wind Warning in place for the Wairarapa about and north of Carterton. This is effective from 9am Thursday 23rd October to 7pm Thursday 23rd October 2025. Severe gale northwesterlies with damaging gusts of 130 km/h in exposed places.
There is also a Strong Wind Warning in place for Wairarapa south of Carterton. This is effective from 8am Thursday 23rd October to 6pm Thursday 23rd October 2025. Severe gale northwesterlies with damaging gusts of 140 km/h in exposed places.
Damage to trees, powerlines, and unsecured structures possible. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.
