This notice hereby advises that Masterton District Council has made the Masterton District Council Alcohol Control Bylaw Ture ā-Rohe Whakahaere Waipiro a Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Whakaoriori (the Bylaw). The Bylaw will come into force in the Masterton District on 8 December 2025.
The Bylaw replaces the Alcohol Control Bylaw 2018.
The purpose of the Bylaw is to enhance safety and the public enjoyment of public places by providing for alcohol control in specified public places.
The Bylaw sets out the following permanent alcohol-free zones:
- Masterton Business District (at all times).
- Skatepark (at all times).
- Queen Elizabeth Park (from 9pm-7am, seven days a week).
The Bylaw may be inspected free of charge during usual business hours at the Masterton District Council Customer Service Centre, 161 Queen Street.
A hardcopy of the Bylaw may be obtained at the above locations on payment of a fee. This will be charged in accordance with standard printing charges set out in the Council’s Schedule of Fees and Charges.
