Tree Maintenance | Mataikona Road
Masterton District Council are trimming pine trees and removing damaged trees along both sides of Mataikona Road for 1km (approx.) from Crump Subdivision Road.
Some of these trees have become potentially dangerous, and the removal of the smaller wildling pines will assist in the regeneration of native bush which is underway in this area.
This work is scheduled to commence on Monday 26 January and is expected to take up to ten working days (weekdays only).
Given the narrowness of the road along this section it will be necessary to close this road when the plant and machinery are operating. The road will be closed for two hours at a time between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Between these two hour closure periods the road will be opened to traffic for 30 minutes at a time.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause however with tree falling taking place, and heavy machinery operating from the road, it is simply not safe for both road users and work crews to share this narrow section of road at the same time.
