Heavy Swell Warning - Monday 8 June - Wednesday 10 June
MetService has issued a heavy swell warning for the Wairarapa Coast from midnight Monday 8 June through to noon Wednesday 10 June.
During this time, swells of over 10 metres are expected, along with gale-force winds exceeding 100 km/h and high tides.
While no formal warnings or state of emergency are being issued, we encourage our coastal communities to stay up to date and take action if they believe they are at risk. If you live in these communities, please ensure you have enough food and medication.
Please take care if you are travelling around the district, as swells may wash debris onto roads and cause flooding. Be extra cautious and avoid exposed coastal locations.
This council webpage will be kept up to date as further information becomes available. You can also stay informed through NZTA and MetService.
