Our teams continue to be out and about responding to reports. If you are seeing flooding or any damage where you are, please report it either through the Antenno app, or calling Council on 06 370 6300. The call centre is busy responding to a lot of calls, so please be patient with the team, they'll get to you as soon as possible.
Whilst the weather may be easing in some places and the weather warnings have been lifted, we're encouraging our communities to not become complacent. The ground remains heavily saturated, and there is a significant amount of debris on roads across the district - these will all take time to clear. Slips are still likely in high‑risk areas, so please drive to the conditions and remain extra vigilant. There may also be damage to land and infrastructure that has not yet been identified. We ask residents to:
Avoid travel unless necessary
Self-evacuate if you need to and stay with friends and family
Follow official updates and advice
Avoid attempting to cross closed or unsafe areas – this is in particular around closed bridges which are extremely vulnerable
Check in on neighbours where it is safe to do so
Call 111 in an emergency or life threatening situation
The Wairarapa Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) has been activated and is coordinating the response. A key priority is ensuring the safety and wellbeing of affected residents. This includes identifying any immediate support required, such as access to essential supplies, medical needs, and welfare assistance.
