Masterton District Youth Council Grants open 1 September
Calling all young people – have you got an event, an initiative, or a great idea that will benefit the rangatahi of Masterton?
The Masterton District Youth Council Grants open on 1 September, offering young people the opportunity to bring their ideas to life.
The Youth Council has five $500 grants available for projects, workshops, events, and initiatives led by young people in our community. Applications will be open from 1 September to 30 September 2026.
Following the application period, shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their ideas to a panel, which will decide which initiatives receive one of the five grants.
Community Activator Jenny Tyler said the grants help rangatahi turn their ideas into reality by reducing financial barriers that can often stand in the way.
"We have a huge number of talented and skilled rangatahi across our district. These grants help empower young people to develop their skills and lead initiatives by rangatahi, for rangatahi.
"Whether it's mentoring opportunities for sports teams, community activities, events that bring young people together, or something completely new, we want to support ideas that make a positive difference," she said.
Applications are open to rangatahi aged 12 to 24 who have a project planned for delivery in the Masterton District before 31 August 2027.
