Terms and Conditions

• Dogs must live in the Masterton District and be registered with Masterton District Council or working towards paying off your dog registration.
• Funding is only available for beneficiaries and low income earners. You will be asked to attend an appointment to provide a WINZ or IRD statement as proof of income. Your documents will be sighted by a Council officer, they will not keep any of your documents.
• You can use the vet clinic of your choice.y Female dogs in heat can be de-sexed 12 weeks after the last day of their heat.
• Once you have submitted your application form, we will notify you within 10 working days if your application is successful.
• If your application is successful, you must book an appointment with your vet clinic within 20 business days from the date of receiving a notice of confirmation of a successful application from us.
• You must pay a non-refundable deposit of $50 to Masterton District Council who will then pay the vet clinic for the cost of the de-sexing surgery only.
• You are responsible to the vet clinic for any additional costs that may be incurred over and above the cost of the actual straight forward de-sexing operation: this includes any complications during the operation, post-operative complications or care required or any other costs such as pain relief or a collar to prevent the dog from licking stitches.
• If you are unable to keep the appointment you make with the vet, you must advise the vet and Masterton District Council as soon as possible and rebook the appointment immediately. If the appointment is not rebooked, you may loose your funding.
• Funding is limited for this campaign and not all applications will be successful.
• Whether or not your application is successful, it is at the sole discretion of Masterton District Council, and we are not required to provide a reason if your application is unsuccessful.
