He angitūtanga | The opportunity:
We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Building Services Officer to join our team full-time. In this role, you’ll provide expert advice, ensure compliance with building regulations, and support Council in fulfilling its legislative obligations. You’ll manage key aspects of building safety, including earthquake-prone buildings, compliance schedules, swimming pool inspections, and warrants of fitness for commercial buildings.
Strong relationship management skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate with stakeholders to uphold building standards and promote safe communities. If you're detail-oriented, a great communicator, and eager to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you!

- Proven experience in the building, design, or a related industry.
- Be a strong verbal and written communicator who can adapt style and delivery to maximise relationships for positive outcomes
- Be able to work collaboratively to ensure service delivery is achieved across the team.
- Be adaptable to manage several tasks concurrently.
- Be able to assess a situation and interpret relevant legislation, and make repeatable decisions with robust records
- Be comfortable working within set timeframes, whilst focusing on delivering quality service
- Decision making and problem solving – makes complex analysis and uses information to make informed business decisions
- A current, clean New Zealand Driver Licence
