Local elections are held every three years across the country. This is a chance for residents and ratepayers of Masterton District to vote for a mayor and elected members to represent them.
The council is made up of nine people:
- one Mayor,
- three at large councillors,
- four general ward councillors and
- one Māori ward councillor.
The next Masterton Whakaoriori District Council local election is being held 11 October 2025. The community will also be asked to vote on whether or we should retain a Māori ward.
Election information is available in large print, audio, braille, NZSL and Easy Read. Visit vote.nz for alternate formats.
